Question by : What is the best way to get to Vang Vieng from Chiang Mai?
I’m planning this trip for a couple of weeks time and was wondering what is the quickest method excluding flying. Can this journey be done in one go or will an overnight stop be required? Also, what kind of cost would I be looking at? Will be happy to provide any more information, thanks in advance.

The best way would be to get a bus from Chaing mai to Nong kai then cross the border at the friendship bridge to Laos. You can get a visa on arrival there. Then a bus to Vang Vieng.
