www.thai-faq.com – The anti-government red shirt protesters returned to Bangkok today on the 4th anniversary of the coup that ousted former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
An emergency protest in held in Sydney on Sunday May 16, 2010, in solidarity with the Thai Red Shirt protestors who were facing a brutal military assault in Bangkok. We called on the Australian government to condemn the illegitimate, military-installed, Ahbisit government for its brutal repression of peaceful protestors, to cut all diplomatic ties with the Thai government until the repression stops, and to end all military ties with the Thai government and armed forces.

The mainstream failed to give enough balanced information about what happened to the Red and their movement. Even Tony did not know how the “fast gathering” could happen and also disappear so quickly. The more the government exercised rampant censorships and repressed the venues for expression of the people, the more the people would want to go on the street.

Great video, especially the foreigner who was evidently the ‘resident expert’ on thai politics yet who had no idea WTF the head band said. กว่า 60 ปีมาแล้ว ที่ประเทศไทยเปลี่ยนการปกครองจากสมบูรณาญาสิทธิราช มาสู่ระบอบประชาธิปไตย แต่ประเทศไทยยังไม่เคยได้รับประชาธิปไตยจริงๆเลย โกหก หลอกลวงชาวโลกตลอดมา กลุ่มอำนาจนอกระบบ กลุ่มอำมาตย์ และทหารใช้วาตกรรมอำพราง บิดเบือน ข่มขู่คุกคาม ใช้ประเพณีนิยมทีผิดๆมาเป็นจารีตนิยมเพื่อสร้างความชอบธรรมในการกุมอำนาจ และผลประโยชน์ของตัวเองและพวกพ้อง
การที ทหารยึดอำนาจ รัฐประหาร รัฐบาลที่มาจากการเลือกตั้งของเสียงส่วนใหญ่ของประชาชน ถือว่าผิดกฎหมายรัฐธรรมนูญ ชัดเจน แต่เนื่องจากการสนับหนุนของกลุ่มอำมาตย์ที่มีอำนาจควบคุมโครงสร้าง การเมือง การปกครอง การนิติบัญญัติ มานาน สามารถ เซ็นต์อนุญาติ จาก ผิดเป็นถูก มันจึงสร้างปัญหาให้ประเทศไทย พัฒนา ประชาธิปไตยไปไม่ได้ สร้างความสูญเสียแก่ประเทศมานับครั้งไม่ถ้วนจวบจนปัจจุบัน
i’ve read some of the comments and i can’t believe that some pp still racist even in Australia. Australia is like my second home, giving me a better life and better opportunity. It doesn’t matter who you are, or who we are, we are human and we have rights to protect each other. - The upcountry people believe that the electoral system is corrupt. The junta, after overthrowing the elected government banned every viable opposition leader and disbanded the opposition party – twice. Freedom of speech has been curtailed. The yellow shirts are involved because they have done the dirty work for the junta, shutting down the airports, etc and never facing any criminal penalties. The current govt is also a coalition – Dems +minor parties
The yellow shirts are no better, but they have nothing to do with this. Abhisit is in power because the electoral system put him there. The previous govt was a coalition, not a majority, and fell apart because the leadership were criminals. Without vote buying/sponsored demonstrating, the Thai political scene would be very different.
- I am surprised how successful the yellowshirt Thai “media” has been. Even the Australians are fooled into thinking that the current government is legit.
