The tweet sparked an uproar in Thailand where fans are calling the tweet offensive, insulting and bad for the country’s image. Lady Gaga posted to her Twitter shortly after her private jet arrived in Bangkok, “I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake rolex.” We’re not exactly sure what a “lady market” is, but we can see why some fans would take this the wrong way, seeing it as an insult rather than for Gaga’s excitement. We don’t think she meant this in a negative way, and in her defense, there are probably loads of fake Lady Gaga CD’s floating around Bangkok as well! Mother Monster is currently touring Asia for her ‘Born This Way Ball’ world tour, where she has unexpectedly caused controversy in every country she has stopped in.
