Question by Mike: Is 35,000 baht enough cash to bring to Thailand for two weeks?
4 nights in Bangkok and 10 nights in Hua Hin. Planning on living the dream…
It includes accommodation. Staying in the Royal Orchid in Bangkok, and the sofitel in Hua Hin. Can’t wait!
I do apologise, it does not include accommodation. Accommodation has already been paid for, and the 35,000 baht is purely spending money.

I seriously hope that that’s just spending money and not includes accommodation , travel costs or trips. 2500 baht a day in Hua Hin is not going to get you living the dream i am sorry to say .
If you are coming to live the dream budget at least 4500 – 5000 baht a day.
True Thai’s avg wage is about 170 baht a day but they dont go out on day trips, night clubs and a like so trust mw when I say 2500 is not enough.
I guess it depends on what it takes to fulfill your dreams! If it means a lot of fancy wining and dining and expensive entertainment then you may run out a little faster than you planned for especially if you are staying in hotels that are a little posh.
You have 2500 baht a day to work with, if your hotel is around a 1000 baht per night that leaves you the rest of your daily budget to realize your dreams plus transportation and miscellaneous needs. It all depends on what you plan on doing! If it is finding a cheap place to sleep at, laying on a beach getting some sun and out partying in cheap beer bars you might squeak though. By the way, you can do it cheaper in Pattaya than Hua Hin! Hua Hin has the better beach and Pattaya has the better nightlife!

Good luck.
(P.S. You write “bring Thai baht to Thailand!” You should wait until you get to Thailand to change your money over to Thai baht to get the best rate. Bank money changers are available at the airport when you arrive 24 hours a day.)
Hi Mike,
Planning on living the dream? Hummm. Perhaps that isn’t enough then.
This question, like so many others, is much too relative and variable to address correctly.
It all depends on what you want to do, where you want to go, what you want to experience, what you eat, where you stay, etc.
If you live high-on-the-hog, such as staying at four and five star hotels, eating at top-notch restaurants, or visiting the farang hangouts…then it’s going to be expensive and 35000 baht goes extremely quickly. With a four star hotel…quicker than 14 nights…for sure!
Going to peruse the fishbowl at the local massage parlor? Big money.
Going to eat at road-side stalls, stay in backpacker hostels, stay sober, see the sights…Cheap.
Your pick.

35,000 Baht for 2 weeks in Thailand for a holiday is realistic and you can have a fabulous time on that, however if you are planning on partying every night, living like a king, paying for female company etc, then that simply isn’t enough.
If you want to live the dream bring 90,000 Baht or more for a 2 week holiday.
