I’m learning Thai since a half year, but I know, why Thai language has consonant classes, since a week!
I am up to 35 so far. Almost to all 44
i gave up after 4th lesson lol
very harddd ><
These combinations of letters are unavailable for me to say. XD
@marnimarien
You need to know what class is each letter in order to read and pronounce the correct tone. For example; middle class + long vowels = middle tone กา; high class + long vowels = rising tone ขา.
You only have to learn vocabulary and remember it how it is written, using taw-tong (ธ) or taw ta-haan (ท). Most of the words is written with ท though.
Kru Mod ka,
I got so much confused about the class, 3 classes high mid and low. what does it means? let say if one word with falling tone, does it the combination between high and low?
2nd question, too tong and too tahaan both in low tones. How can I know which one I shud use?
kop khun ka mak
Sawadee krab Mod,
Would be nice if you continue with the alphabet, I also want to learn writing, this is for me
and most here, I think one of the most difficult part.
Please continue with the memorizing and writing clips.
Who knows can I write within 10 years…:)
Thank you for the video!
It is not that difficult to remember all 44 alphabets. They are classed into 3 classes, try to remember by class. GOOD LUCK!
“44 alphabets”?????????? My faith is shaken
Interesting…many South Thai people cannot roll the R consonant. I live in Phuket and have noticed this… They also use different tones than Bangkok people. so watch out if you travel in the South.
This videos have great quality.
Very good video, but cha cha
Kup kun krap !

Sawatdii ka. Thank you for watching my video.
To answer your question, I think if you would like to be master in Thai language – speaking and writing it is good to start from Thai alphabet but you will need to be very patient until you can speak if you don’t want to mix your learning with roman alphabet at all since it will take some time before you can read&write complex words. As for the consonants, The Thai alphabet consist of 44 syllabic consonants but only 20 sounds.
Not hard? o.O
Just short of impossible! 5555
Do you recommend learning the thai alphabet in order to become fluent? Some members at the thaivisa forum recommend learning the Thai alphabet rather than spelling it using the roman alphabet. I also just finished writing out 42 consonants from a different video. Aren’t you missing about 22 consonants here?
I think I need to send you a donation for all the questions I’m asking!
Thank you for watching ka Tommy.
